Activity 2 - Icebreakers
Who are you? :)
We’ll have two breakout sessions so you can get to know your classmates. Please enable your webcam if possible. Each group will have 3-4 students. You will have two different groups: FIRST GROUP for the first breakout session, and a SECOND GROUP for the second breakout session. Each group has a group leader whose name is in bold - they are responsible for driving the discussion (asking prompts, making sure you’re on time, etc.) I’ll send you details on which group you’re in and who the leaders are.
During your FIRST breakout session, please discuss the following items with your FIRST group:
- Introduce yourself! What’s your name? Feel free to include your preferred name and gender pronouns. What year are you (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior)? What is your major(s)? Why are you taking this class? Are you on campus? If not, from what state/country are you remotely joining?
- Take a few minutes to come up with three statements about yourself - two true statements and one lie. Share with your group. Give your group an opportunity to discuss which statements they think are true and ask you followup questions.
During your SECOND breakout session, please discuss the following items with your SECOND group:
- Introduce yourself! What’s your name? Feel free to include your preferred name and gender pronouns. What year are you (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior)? What is your major(s)? Why are you taking this class? Are you on campus? If not, from what state/country are you remotely joining?
- Share your workspace. Point your webcam around your working area.
- What study habits work best for you? What can you do to be successful in this course?
