Audience Participation Requirements

Students who are observing class presentations are required to:

  1. have read the material before the presentation
  2. Complete ONE of the following participation activities:
    • Download the Discussion Form and compose a list of at least three questions/discussion points NOT answered directly by the reading (submitted before 9:00am on presentation day via Moodle). E.g. “What is an affordance?” would not be an acceptable question if the book chapter defines an affordance. To accommodate limited time in the class for discussion, you may opt to write an additional two questions/discussion points (5 in total) in your Discussion Form submission (due at the same time as the initial three questions) to ensure that you get the full 3 points of class participation.
    • Post to the UI Design forum on Moodle with a UNIQUE example (no duplicates) of “good” or “bad” UI design before class. The post should include screenshots (or gifs) from an application or a link for a website and a brief explanation of what makes the design good or bad in your opinion.
  3. Download the Peer Evaluation Form
  4. Listen respectfully to the presentation
  5. Participate in discussion during and after the presentation
  6. Complete the Peer Evaluation Form
    • Use the Presentation Rubric for your evaluation scoring
    • Do not leave any sections of the form empty or write less than what is required by each prompt
    • Peer Evaluation Forms may be anonymized and shared with the presenter
    • Do NOT treat the evaluation like an internet comment section
    • Critiques are professional comments that provide helpful insight to improve work and are respectful
  7. submit the Peer Evaluation Form form before the end of the day via Moodle

No attendance points are awarded if class is not attended (E.g. you cannot earn the 3 points for the class session).
